Whirr 1.0

Custom client portals for a modern agency

For Whirr, I designed a user-friendly product, converting marketing site, and compelling brand centered around the app. I conceptualized and designed the product and identity that blended these elements into a seamless experience with a distinct brand. With a focus on creating a brand that resonated authentically with our target audience, addressing their challenges and empowering improved customer engagement.

I identified marketing agencies as a target audience, who served as the focal point for the marketing site. I wireframed, wrote, designed, and developed the site with a modern vibrant aesthetic which aimed to captivate not only agencies’ decision-makers but also the end-users engaging with the product.

To craft the web app, I implemented strategic journey mapping and user research to uncover agency pain points. I identified the needs of service-based small businesses by conducting a series of user interviews that made me acutely aware of pain-points.

To streamline development and ensure consistency throughout the app and marketing, I designed a comprehensive component library in Figma.

A glimpse behind the curtain at some of the hundreds of custom components that comprise Whirr

These components served as a valuable reference for an engineer to integrate designs or features into the web app, without the need for high-fidelity design extended to every edge case. This enabled our distributed team of 2 to work asynchronously, and alleviated blockers.

Additionally, I utilized an agile project management framework, efficiently guiding an engineer and orchestrating our two-person team to meet our objectives.

These contributions resulted in the successful development of a captivating brand, app, marketing site, and the establishment of a lean product team. All achieved within (remarkably) less than a year and a budget of $0.

Outcome
